Why Project Black Lens Matters: Amplifying Black Voices Through Photography

Project Black Lens is more than just a photography course; it’s a platform for amplifying Black voices and addressing social issues through the art of photography. Black photographers have long been at the forefront of documenting Black lives and highlighting social issues that affect the Black community. Their work not only captures the beauty and complexity of the Black experience but also serves as a powerful tool for advocacy, education, and social change.

By empowering young Black photographers to refine their skills and share their stories, Project Black Lens continues this important legacy. Through their lenses, our students have the opportunity to capture the nuances of Black life, challenge stereotypes, and inspire meaningful conversations about race, identity, and social justice. Their work will not only add to the rich tapestry of Black art but also contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society.
